Breast augmentation

Breast augmentation (mammoplasty) is one of the most requested plastic surgery procedures, allowing breast volume to be increased, breast shape to be improved, or symmetry to be restored. Breast augmentation can be performed using silicone implants or the patient’s own fat tissue.
Breast augmentation (in medical terminology — mammoplasty) is one of the most requested plastic surgery procedures, allowing breast volume to be increased, breast shape to be improved, or symmetry to be restored. Breast augmentation can be performed using silicone implants or the patient’s own fat tissue. The most suitable method is chosen by the patient together with the plastic surgeon during the consultation, taking into account anatomical features, wishes, and the desired result. New Hanza Med Estētikas klīnika employs experienced plastic surgeons who use proven methods, ensuring a natural, long-lasting result and improving your quality of life.

Useful to know:

Duration of surgery:

Surgery with implants takes approximately 60–120 minutes, while fat transfer takes 90–150 minutes.

Anaesthesia:

The surgery is performed under general anaesthesia.

Inpatient stay:

After surgery, one night in the inpatient unit is usually required – for observation.

Recovery:

Ability to work returns within 1–2 weeks,
physical activity is possible after 4–6 weeks.

Final result:

The final result gradually stabilises over approximately 3–6 months.

Services:

Breast implants
The most commonly chosen method, allowing a more significant increase in volume to be achieved in a single procedure. The shape, size, and placement technique of the breast implant are selected individually, taking into account the anatomy of the chest, the amount of existing tissue, and the desired result. Modern implants provide a natural feel and appearance while maintaining natural movement. The procedure can be combined with a breast lift.
Lipofilling
An alternative method for those who want a moderate, natural improvement in breast volume and shape without an implant — using the patient’s own fat tissue, which is obtained by liposuction from another area of the body and transferred to the breast area. The procedure takes place in two stages: first, the fat tissue to be transferred is gently obtained by liposuction from areas where there is more of it, such as the abdomen or hips. These purified tissues are then transferred to the breasts, correcting breast shape and size while also improving other body areas and contours, creating a harmonious and aesthetic appearance. Fat transfer can be performed as a standalone procedure or as an auxiliary method to improve the result when correcting the shape after other methods.

FAQ:

Is breast augmentation painful?

After breast augmentation surgery, some discomfort and breast tenderness may be felt. These symptoms can usually be reduced with pain medication prescribed by a doctor. Severe or prolonged pain is not typical of a normal postoperative recovery.

When will the final result be visible after breast augmentation?

The initial result after breast augmentation surgery is visible immediately, but the full result takes 3–5 months, once the tissues have stabilized and the swelling has completely subsided.

How long should a compression bra be worn after breast augmentation?

After breast augmentation, a compression bra usually needs to be worn for 4 to 6 weeks. It helps reduce swelling, provides support for the breasts, and promotes tissue healing. The exact duration of wear is determined by the plastic surgeon, taking into account the course of the surgery and the individual recovery process.

Can you breastfeed after breast augmentation?

Yes, because implant placement techniques (for example, under the pectoralis major muscle or under the gland) do not affect the milk ducts, so breastfeeding after the surgery is possible.
